WHAT WE OFFER

Comprehensive Maritime Compliance Services

From internal audits to accident investigation, Vaayuvent Maritime Assurance delivers vessel-side expertise across the full spectrum of maritime compliance requirements.

01

ISM / ISPS / MLC Audits

Independent internal audits against ISM Code, ISPS Code, and MLC 2006 requirements — conducted shipboard by qualified auditors.

Vaayuvent Maritime Assurance conducts independent internal audits of the Safety Management System, Ship Security Plan, and Maritime Labour Convention compliance framework. Our auditors are qualified to ISM, ISPS, and MLC 2006 standards and conduct all audits onboard — not from a shore office. Findings are referenced to the specific convention, code, or guideline requirement, and each non-conformity is accompanied by a clear corrective action recommendation.

SCOPE OF SERVICE

  • ISM Code SMS audit against ISM Code requirements and company SMS documentation
  • ISPS Code Ship Security Plan audit and security drill observation
  • MLC 2006 compliance audit covering seafarer welfare, working hours, and accommodation
  • Non-conformity identification with root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations
  • Verification of previous non-conformity closure and corrective action effectiveness
  • Audit report with findings referenced to applicable convention and code requirements

DELIVERABLE

Formal audit report with non-conformities, observations, and corrective action recommendations referenced to ISM, ISPS, and MLC 2006 requirements.

02

Marine Accident & Incident Investigation

Systematic investigation of marine accidents and incidents in accordance with the IMO Casualty Investigation Code.

Marine accident and incident investigation requires a structured methodology that identifies root causes, contributing factors, and systemic failures — not just the immediate sequence of events. Vaayuvent Maritime Assurance conducts investigations in accordance with the IMO Casualty Investigation Code (MSC.255(84)), applying systematic analysis techniques to produce findings that support genuine corrective action and prevent recurrence.

SCOPE OF SERVICE

  • Accident and incident investigation in accordance with IMO MSC.255(84) methodology
  • Evidence collection and preservation including VDR data, documentation, and crew statements
  • Root cause analysis and contributing factor identification
  • Human element assessment including fatigue, communication, and decision-making factors
  • Corrective action recommendations addressing root causes and systemic factors
  • Investigation report suitable for submission to flag state, P&I Club, or company management

DELIVERABLE

Formal investigation report with factual record, root cause analysis, contributing factors, and corrective action recommendations in accordance with IMO Casualty Investigation Code.

03

VDR Analysis

Voyage Data Recorder data extraction, multi-channel replay, and forensic analysis for accident investigation and performance review.

Voyage Data Recorder analysis provides objective, time-stamped evidence of vessel operations — bridge audio, radar imagery, AIS data, speed, heading, and rudder angle — that cannot be reconstructed from memory or documentation alone. Vaayuvent Maritime Assurance conducts VDR data extraction and multi-channel forensic analysis in accordance with IMO Resolution A.861(20) and IEC 61996, for both accident investigation and proactive navigational performance review.

SCOPE OF SERVICE

  • VDR and S-VDR data extraction and integrity verification
  • Multi-channel data replay including bridge audio, radar, AIS, and navigational parameters
  • Forensic timeline reconstruction for accident and incident investigation
  • Navigational performance analysis for proactive safety review
  • ECDIS track and chart management review
  • VDR analysis report with annotated replay data and findings

DELIVERABLE

VDR analysis report with multi-channel data reconstruction, annotated timeline, and findings referenced to applicable navigational and regulatory requirements.

SIRE 2.0 Preparation

Structured pre-inspection assessment against the OCIMF SIRE 2.0 framework to identify and close gaps before the vetting inspector boards.

OCIMF SIRE 2.0 is a fundamentally different inspection framework from its predecessor — competency-based, evidence-driven, and focused on genuine safety culture rather than documentation compliance. Vaayuvent Maritime Assurance conducts structured pre-SIRE assessments that evaluate the vessel against the SIRE 2.0 question framework, identify gaps in crew competency and documentation, and provide a prioritised action plan to address findings before the vetting inspection.

SCOPE OF SERVICE

  • Pre-inspection assessment against SIRE 2.0 question framework and OCIMF VIQ requirements
  • Crew competency evaluation through structured questioning aligned to SIRE 2.0 methodology
  • Documentation and record review against SIRE 2.0 objective evidence requirements
  • Human element and fatigue management assessment
  • Cargo and ballast system knowledge and procedure verification
  • Prioritised gap analysis with corrective action recommendations before vetting inspection

DELIVERABLE

Pre-SIRE assessment report with gap analysis, crew competency findings, and prioritised corrective action plan referenced to SIRE 2.0 question framework.

05

PSC Preparation

Independent pre-PSC inspection audit to identify deficiencies before the Port State Control officer boards.

Port State Control inspections follow predictable priority sequences — certificates, SMS implementation, crew competency, engine room records, and navigation equipment. Vaayuvent Maritime Assurance conducts independent pre-PSC audits that assess the vessel against the inspection criteria used by Paris MOU, Tokyo MOU, and other regional PSC authorities, identifying deficiencies and generating a prioritised corrective action list before arrival at port.

SCOPE OF SERVICE

  • Certificate validity and endorsement verification across all statutory certificates
  • SMS implementation audit including drill records, non-conformity management, and crew familiarity
  • Crew competency assessment through practical and oral evaluation
  • Engine room inspection including OWS compliance, ORB review, and maintenance records
  • Navigation equipment condition and documentation review including ECDIS and VDR
  • Deficiency report with prioritised corrective actions referenced to applicable SOLAS, MARPOL, and MLC requirements

DELIVERABLE

Pre-PSC inspection report with identified deficiencies, priority classification, and corrective action recommendations referenced to applicable convention requirements.

06

Dynamic Navigation Audit

Underway bridge team performance assessment against STCW, COLREGS, and company SMS requirements.

A Dynamic Navigation Audit is conducted while the vessel is underway, providing a real-time assessment of bridge team management, passage planning execution, watchkeeping standards, and ECDIS operational proficiency. Unlike a static audit, the dynamic format captures actual navigational behaviour — including officer decision-making, communication protocols, and lookout effectiveness — under operational conditions.

SCOPE OF SERVICE

  • Passage plan review against SOLAS Chapter V and company SMS requirements
  • Bridge team management and communication effectiveness assessment
  • ECDIS operational proficiency and chart management verification
  • COLREGS compliance and situational awareness evaluation
  • Radar and AIS target management observation
  • Watchkeeping handover procedures and rest hour compliance check

DELIVERABLE

Dynamic navigation audit report with observed findings, STCW and SMS compliance status, and targeted recommendations for bridge team development.

07

Remote Navigation Audit

Shore-based navigational performance review using vessel data, VDR records, and ECDIS track analysis — without requiring an auditor on board.

A Remote Navigation Audit delivers a structured assessment of navigational performance and compliance without the logistical requirements of a shipboard visit. Using VDR data, ECDIS track exports, passage plans, bridge log entries, and rest hour records, Vaayuvent Maritime Assurance conducts a thorough review of bridge team performance, passage planning quality, and watchkeeping standards. The remote format is particularly suited to fleet-wide navigational performance monitoring, post-incident review, and situations where vessel schedule or trading area makes a physical audit impractical.

SCOPE OF SERVICE

  • Passage plan review against SOLAS Chapter V, company SMS, and voyage-specific requirements
  • ECDIS track analysis including course alterations, speed changes, and proximity to hazards
  • VDR data review covering bridge audio, radar, AIS, and navigational parameters for selected passages
  • Rest hour record analysis for watchkeeping officers against MLC 2006 and STCW requirements
  • Bridge log and night order review for watchkeeping standard assessment
  • Findings report with navigational performance observations and targeted recommendations

DELIVERABLE

Remote navigation audit report with passage-by-passage analysis, identified navigational performance gaps, rest hour compliance findings, and recommendations for bridge team development — delivered without a shipboard visit.

08

Mooring Audits

Mooring equipment and operations audit against OCIMF MEG4 fourth edition requirements.

Mooring failures are among the most preventable causes of serious maritime incidents. Vaayuvent Maritime Assurance conducts mooring equipment and operations audits against OCIMF Mooring Equipment Guidelines (MEG4) fourth edition requirements, assessing the condition of mooring lines, winches, fairleads, and bitts, and evaluating the vessel's mooring operations procedures and crew competency against current best practice.

SCOPE OF SERVICE

  • Mooring equipment condition assessment against MEG4 requirements including lines, winches, and deck fittings
  • Mooring line inspection including age, condition, and retirement criteria compliance
  • Mooring operations procedure review against MEG4 and company SMS requirements
  • Crew competency assessment for mooring operations including line handling and winch operation
  • Terminal interface and communication procedure review
  • Mooring risk assessment review and gap analysis

DELIVERABLE

Mooring audit report with equipment condition findings, procedural compliance assessment, and corrective action recommendations referenced to OCIMF MEG4 fourth edition.
